that time of year again... Where you look at the stuff you thought
you were going to do and Make new resolutions and resolve to
accomplish them this year...
UNLESS
you change the way you do it, You'll be doing it all over again this
time next year.
I'm going to try to give you a brief overview of what normally takes me a weekend to teach.
We are far more diverse in interest and application than body, mind and spirit. If anything these are simply the energies we tap to accomplish our desires, dreams and goals. Most goal setting techniques were developed50-75 years ago and have been re -flavored or recolored by many people attempting to say it in a slightly new way.
Our society and culture has changed and reinvented itself over and over again. Global connectivity doesn't even need to be said it is so obvious. Border less and boundless invention and economy is the construct of the day. Prosperity isn't a SECRET it is an Allowance. Do you know how to allow it?
Throughout human development shifts in understanding or changes in paradigm have occurred through effort and ****stretching. If the same old techniques aren't working for you maybe it's time you stretched to learn something different. Perhaps the understanding of the diversity of your own life and then the merger of the energies that run throughout your life is the next step for you to achieve all that you were meant to.
75 years ago RADIO was brand new, television hadn't even been thought of yet and the whole idea of radio telescopes was considered ridiculous. Has our understanding of energy and frequencies changed since then?
There are Many areas of human expression that I normally spend 30 to 60 minutes each explaining. Discovering and developing an understanding of what has occurred and changed was painful. Then trying to sum it up so that it fits into little boxes... not easy, but very little about this process is supposed to be (easy that is). What is even harder than properly creating your targets is having the desire to get there from here and continuously missing the mark. That is what drove me to create and better understand it.
I had on many occasions used the “standard Goal Setting method” but found my desires interrupted by other areas of experience in my life. I started looking around at the “mentors” in my life and noticed they had been successful at Business but failed horribly in other areas of life or they may have been phenomenal parents but poor financially.
So, I came to a few conclusions: the teaching of Balance is as flawed as the teaching of fear, the base for setting goals was not broad enough and that people needed to have a process to clear their blockages to get to their goals (IE: believing they are worthy of getting what they desire).
This begins the same as any other targeting method. Look at the area of existence that most interests you (or that you already have input on) and write down what you want to accomplish in that area.
Use titles not stories! Send Kids To College, Get a Boyfriend, Find A better Job... These are titles. You can explain them later.
Put a date on it, but be responsible and reasonable If you said “ Send Kids To College” How long will it be before your child is 18? If your child is 2 you can apply some different strategies than if your child is 17, let your dates reflect that.
Dream Big, look at each section as if it were the only thing that mattered and what would be your dream existence within that area of human existence. Winston Churchill said “Make no small plans for they have no capacity to stir mens' soul!”
Do not be ridiculous in your goals. Many people build in easy outs or false “set ups” in their goals. Earn a Million dollars could be a false set up if you have never earned over $50K. Before I'm comfortable with you making such a leap I want you to fully understand what it takes to get from $50K to $1,000,000. I do want you to dream big, but practical. The million dollars is possible but possibly develop a plan that is spread over a handful of years instead of just the next one.
Don't discount a miracle. You could have a goal for years to get healthier, and spend time each year learning how to become healthier. One of the healthiest people I know is a cancer survivor, for the first five year that I knew her she had that same “healthier” goal, but continued bad habits including smoking. Once the doctor told her she had nine months to live, she was motivated to change and apply all she had learned... This is now ten years later than the doctor told her she would live. So she was motivated to kick it up a few notches and maybe you need to “kick” into the miraculous with some of your goals but that makes them your exclusive focus for that year. Also note that she had EXPERT mentor-ship to accomplish that goal as well.
After you have developed your dreams, goals and ambitions in all areas of your existence, Sit down with an intimate friend and discuss what these are for you. Take notes or record it.
Discuss what you think it will take for you to get there from here and admit if you have no idea.
The admission allows you to find someone who does know (you might have to pay them) what you need to do to get there from where you are. Adjust your dates if you feel the time you put down is to long or too short. Get a calender and see how much time you can put to doing or getting each goal...Don't forget about things like kids, spouse, job and relaxation... very few people can stay constantly focused.
Massage the completion dates as needed. Break it up! Most goals and tasks can be broken up into measurable smaller tasks. If you are going to start a business, invent a product or through a party, there are ways to “chunk it up”. An entire Banquet gets eaten one bite at a time. Execute. Now that you have looked at what you want, made a reasonable deadline and broken it up into bite sized pieces act and allow the universe to bless You.
